Crockpot Split Pea Soup

Ok, if you trusted us with your lasagna and your meatloaf, we know you can go out on a limb and trust us with this soup. Split pea soup...It sounds odd. Maybe you've never had it. Maybe you had it before and didn't like it. Well we are going to ask you to do the same thing we ask the kids to do...take an adventure bite! TRY THIS ONE. You never know if you don't like something until you try it. We are willing to bet you'll love it. And since it's the most budget-conscious dish we have made at just pennies per serving, it's absolutely worth a try.

This recipe was actually not our own, it was shared with us by a fan. We liked it so much we asked for her permission to share it on the show! We have had a lot of positive feedback on it too. We browsed the bakery at our local Winco and found this really delicious fresh baked "Everything" bread. Not only did it pair perfectly with the soup, it was only o$0.86! I kid you not! Try this simple and delicious soup, and let us know what you think.

1 16oz package dried split peas rinsed 

2 cups diced ham

3 carrots chopped

1/2cup chopped onion

2 ribs celery with leaves, chopped 

1-2 garlic cloves minced

1 bay leaf

1/4 cup fresh parsley or 2tsp dried parsley flakes

1 tbsp seasoned salt

1/2 tsp pepper

6 cups water

Mix all ingredients in crockpot

Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hrs

Do not stir until done
